Diabetic dog food"Making your own dog food"Special needs diabetic dog food or having to try making your own dog food,is sometimes necessarry for healthy pet foods. Especially when your pet has a health condition. To buy this dog food will be more expensive than the commercial foods you buy at the department stores. Just like human food, anytime they remove the fillers they charge more for the product and carbohydrates such as wheat and by products are all fillers. Simple carbohydrates are processed by the body and turned into glucose the same as sugar. So the elimination of the simple carbohydrates is important. Complex carbohydrates are recommended because the body much slower absorbs them and helps minimize fluctuations in blood sugar after eating. Simple carbohydrates are white flour, sugar and whit rice or just about anything that has been processed. Complex carbohydrates would be brown rich and whole grains. Dietary management is as important for a diabetic dog as it is for a human. Diabetic dog food can also be found in Dr Fosters and Smith. The advantage here is having it delivered to your door. I personally use this company and find them very dependable and helpful. Natural dog food recipesRemember you must keep the caloric count down in all diabetic dog food. But it is equally important that they get healthy dog food with their vitamins and nutrients that is needed for their size and age. You must be aware of the ingredients of which ever way you decide to feed your dog, commercial or home made food. As with everything, just because they say it is healthy for you pet does not mean it really is. You will want to feed smaller meals two or three times a day. Also exercise is very important for the diabetic dog. Keep the food low in fat, avoid sugar and salt, really they don’t need flavoring. Don’t use just any flour, learn which grains are beneficial for your dog. Grains such as Brown rice, and oats are good choices. Also millet helps regulate insulin and provide fiber which can be found in Flint River dog food. Stay away from white flour, cornmeal and wheat as they can also aggravate allergies if they have them. Remember they don’t need many carbohydrates for an all natural dog food. Home made dog food recipeFruit and vegetables are good for vitamins and such but again remember some they do not digest very well. Raw carrots are natural dog treats and Tiffany loves them. Green beans are another one they really like; they can be given raw or cooked. When you serve them raw they also help clean their teeth.
